Virginia Association of Educational Office Professionals offers many opportunities for professional growth and works toward the increased recognition of its members as partners in educating the youth of Virginia. Membership benefits include an annual meeting and a Spring Institute. Workshops are held at these meetings, and an all-day in-service is held in March of each year. Members from across the state interact and share ideals that can help improve their job performance. Through participation in VAEOP in-services, workshops, and meetings, members can earn credits to be used in the Professional Standards Programs (PSP), which is sponsored by the National Association of Educational Office Professionals. Many schools systems pay a salary supplement for completion of any level in this program.
Other benefits include scholarships, which are awarded at the Spring Institute banquet to VAEOP members’ children or grandchildren furthering their education beyond high school. An award is also presented to an educational office professional of the year and administrator of the year. Members receive copies of the Intercom, the written voice of VAEOP. This newsletter contains articles for professional and personal growth along with bits of news from local associations.
